Public Rights of Way

Public Rights of Way (PRoW) in Sancreed Parish are managed in partnership with Cornwall Council, under an arrangement called a Local Maintenance Partnership (LMP). The criteria for how many times each footpath or bridleway is cut are set out on the Cornwall Council website.

Responsibility for keeping the paths open and usable is shared between three parties:

• Sancreed Parish Council arranges for the soft vegetation growing on the path itself, such as grass and nettles, to be cut back on the paths in its schedule.
• The landowner is responsible for the boundaries alongside their land, including cutting back overhanging branches and hedges that grow from it, and for keeping any stiles and gates in good repair.
• Cornwall Council, as the highway authority, is responsible for the surface of the paths, for signposting and bridges, and for dealing with obstructions and other ‘hard’ problems.
