Kate Goodman welcomed attendees to the first SNAG Autumn Talk.
Nick Taylor spoke about the SNAG and Nature Networks then introduced Hollie Ferris from Cornwall Heritage Trust (CHT).
Hollie gave a presentation with slides on the CHT sites throughout Cornwall with the Beacon and Caer Bran being given an emphasis. Bracken clearing was a strong theme at all sites and the challenge that this posed to the archaeological features. Hollie answered questions and
Nick thanked her for her interesting talk. He spoke further on Nature Networks. Jan Dinsdale explained a little about what a landscape scale project meant and that 55 Penwith farmers had currently signed up to the scheme that is The Penwith Landscape Recovery Project (PLRP) which would be a 20 year plan. Sancreed and Morvah have the largest amount of land involved in the PLRP.
Then people were encouraged to look at the large scale map of the Parish and to add features they had identified – ponds, meadows, woodland etc. There was a good buzz of conversation and interaction, something to build on with the upcoming presentatin and consultation with Luke New from the Penwith Landscape Recovery Project (PLRP) on Saturday 27th October 12.30 to 2.30, and 6.30 to 8.30 at the Sancreed Village Hall.
21 people attended plus 2 speakers. Pasties were supplied by the Sancreed Parish Council, and Grumbla for refreshments before and after the talk which generated a good social aspect to the occasion.
